Rev. Joseph Motz, Designated Pastor

Pastor Joe holds a deep passion for people, the church, and the communities he is called to serve. His experience spans over 20 years of summer camp ministry, state park chaplaincy, and congregational ministry.  He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology & Philosophy from Juniata College, during which time he also studied abroad at Aberdeen University in Scotland. He earned his Masters of Divinity from Lancaster Theological Seminary, completed his Clinical Pastoral Education Level 1 at the Reading Hospital, and has engaged in foundational training for Gestalt Pastoral Care. Currently he is pursuing a Professional Certified Coaching certificate from the International Coaching Federation in order to enhance his capacity for leadership development and congregational vitality.

Pastor Joe is dedicated to his family: Jessica, his wife, his three daughters Natalie, Olivia, and Caitlyn, and his extended family. In his free time, he enjoys biking, running, backpacking, spending time in nature, gardening in his backyard, and joining with friends and family.

Sharon Luyben, Minister of Music

Sharon joined the staff of Bausman Memorial UCC in September 1986, when she was appointed Minister of Music. She is the Music Department Chair and choral director for the Wyomissing Area School District, where she teaches 6 Choral Ensembles, Advanced Music I and II, Gr. 7 and serves as Director Emeritus for the School Musicals. Mrs. Luyben earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from Lebanon Valley College.

Nancy Jeffrey, Parish Secretary

Nancy emigrated from the Caribbean island of Grenada to Brooklyn, NY at the age of 20. She is divorced, has one son, Jason, and a puppy named Mason. She moved to Blandon, PA in 2016 and is enjoying the change of pace. Nancy was an Executive Administrative Assistant on Wall Street for 15 years. More recently, she worked for 2 churches in New York as the Parish Administrative Assistant. Nancy enjoys reading, traveling, watching football, and is an avid Scrabble player.
